Centroid Breaks New Ground in TV Animation
Centroid 3D worked with producers TT Animation to create What’s Your News?, a pioneering, 26 episode animated series broadcast on Nick Jr. from January 2009 onwards. Centroid helped develop the animation pipeline, utilising ex-Henson actors to provide more character-driven performances. Exploring new boundaries using cyber glasses, the world class motion capture company allowed the performance animators to see themselves in the CG environment as well as to gain complete awareness of their surroundings via a composite.
Centroid also created tools to aid direction of the series and the use of the pipeline minimised processing, resulting in each episode being shot in just 3 days. What’s Your News? is the first ever news show for (and about) 4-7 year old children and helps their transition from their home and family environment into the wider world.
